New Bridge Organic Market first opened in October of 2011. Elizabeth and Dale Altman, say the business was formed as an energy conservation measure. This is because at that point in time there was almost no natural or organic food available in the Jacksonville area. In order to eat organic it was necessary to drive to Wilmington or even Raleigh to shop for food. That in itself made no sense and the Altman's decided it was time to bring healthy foods to Jacksonville, NC.
We believe that food does more than nourish: food brings people together. We think it’s our responsibility to build meaningful relationships with each part of our extended family; the food we make and sell connects our staff, our guests, our producers and the environment. In this way, we "create community through food".
